What the guardian hoped to preserve

The guardian wanted to keep the quiet calm of age and the feeling of always being beside that familiar tartan blanket.

What Choco noticed first

  • A silver coat worn by time, especially white around the muzzle
  • Soft creases at the eyes; the left one always opens first
  • A long-shared tartan blanket that seems to travel with him

How Choco translated it into character work

We kept the lines thinner to hold the delicacy of age, made quiet poise the centre of the design, and carried the tartan through as a signature so the feel of ‘always here’ reads at a glance.

What the finished result needed to hold

The final piece holds the calm gravity of a senior companion while staying clean enough to keep as a long-term gift-like character base.

How the finished work was meant to live
